People with long-term conditions will receive an invite to have their annual review done during the month of their birth. Prior to your birth month, you will receive an invitation to book your annual review. We will be trying to ensure that if a patient has multiple conditions, these will all be reviewed in the fewest number of appointments possible.
Long term conditions which come under this system are:
- Atrial Fibrillation
- Asthma
- Coronary Heart Disease
- Chronic Kidney Disease
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Dementia
- Diabetes & Pre-Diabetes
- Heart Failure
- Hypertension
- Mental Health
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Stroke and Transient Ischaemic Attacks (TIA)
Please note: Medication reviews are not currently done with this process.
We offer a range of vaccinations and immunisations at the Surgery. These include Shingles vaccinations for those between the ages of 70-79, Pneumonia vaccinations, and Flu vaccinations during the Winter months.
We offer the full range of childhood immunisations including DTP and MMR. Parents/Guardians will be notified when their child is due for their next set of immunisations to keep up to date.
We have regular appointments for Smear tests with our Nursing Team. Cervical Screening should be carried out every 3 or 5 years depending on your age and circumstances to help guard against Cervical Cancer. When you are due your Screening you will receive an invite from us to book your appointment.
The NHS does not cover some of the services you may require and therefore you may be requested to pay a fee which is recommended by the British Medical Association.
These services include:
- Private insurance forms
- Private medical reports and examinations, eg HGV/Taxi/PSV/Boatmasters
- Holiday cancellation forms
- Insurance claim forms
- OFSTED health reports, eg childminders
- Higher education applications for health related courses
For all forms needing completion by a Doctor, please ensure you have signed the form giving your consent for medical information to be disclosed, or that you attach a signed letter to this effect.
Forms relating to children under 16, need the signed consent of the parent/guardian.
Private Medicals
- HGV, PSV, Taxi, Boatmasters’ Licences and Sport Medicals are undertaken on a Friday morning.
- Assessment of mental capacity can also be undertaken.

- Fees are pre-payable for medicals.
- They vary depending on the medical undertaken and the forms to be completed.

Payment
All payments can be accepted by cash, credit or debit card.

If you would like to request test results, you can do so using eConsult.
- Laboratory tests usually take at least 48 hours.
- Some tests requested by the clinician may take longer.
Please allow at least two to three working days, before contacting Thorpewood Surgery after 14:30.
Results will not be given out before this time.
If your results are returned to the surgery urgently by the laboratory, the surgery will contact you. Please ensure we have your correct contact details, if you wish to update your details then please use contact details form.
Smear Tests
Smear test results may take up to eight weeks to come through, you will be notified with the result by letter directly from the health authority.
