It is with much sadness that we saw Christine Lesley retire from both the practice and being a GP on 8th June. Christine has been Senior Partner here for 3 years, and has been a GP at Thorpewood for over 20. We all hope that Christine enjoys her newly-found free time, and gets the opportunity to enjoy doing all the things that she is looking forward to doing – she will be sorely missed.

New from April 2015 - Named GP for all patients ( posted on Jun 3, 2015 )

New service for patients

You may be aware that from April 2015 there is a new NHS initiative whereby all GP practices are required to provide all their patients with a named GP who will have overall responsibility for the care and support that our surgery provides to them.

All existing patients will be allocated with a named GP and all new patients from 1st April 2015 will be informed of their new GP within 21 days of registering with the practice.

This does not mean that you have to see your named GP, you can see any GP  in the practice as you currently do.   The overall care of all our patients will still be offered through the whole team of clinicians here at Thorpewood Medical Group, and an appropriate appointment will be offered to ensure best care is provided for your medical needs.

This took place on Wednesday 11th March.

The benefits of the upgrade will allow the practice to offer a more comprehensive service; all calls to and from the practice will be recorded, calls will be placed in a queuing system where you will be advised of your queue number and the practice will be able to monitor the service level we provide.

Winter Message from Norwich CCG ( posted on Dec 15, 2014 )

Where’s the quickest way to find urgent health care when your GP is not available?

The NHS in Norwich and parts of Broadland has issued some really helpful advice about where to find ‘urgent health care’ when your GP is not available.

If you’re poorly or you’ve suffered a minor injury, the first port of call is usually your GP. But here are some other good ways to find the healthcare you need.

Try your pharmacy – great for coughs, colds and other minor illnesses

Phone 111 – 111 is the local NHS advice line with trained staff to advise the best course of action. 111 is also the number to call for the out of hours GP service. If you don’t need to see a GP, of course the 111 staff will offer you the advice you need.

Walk-in centre. Norwich’s NHS walk-in centre is at Timber Hill Health Centre, inside The Mall. It is open from 9am-7pm, 7 days a week.

Please help the NHS by using services wisely this winter.

CQC Data Media Coverage ( posted on Nov 19, 2014 )

We are very pleased to confirm that we are in the lowest Care Quality Commission risk banding, Band 6, under their recently released Intelligent Monitoring Data.

In their coverage of the Norfolk data, the Eastern Daily Press used our 'Woodside Surgery' details rather than Thorpewood Medical Group as is shown on the CQC website, and moved us out of Norwich on their graphic. Apologies for any confusion, but still pleased that the rankings show us in the very lowest risk Band, even if reported without being in the context set by the CQC.
